Why Wisdom Essentials?
The inspiration for Wisdom Essentials was simple – we wanted to create a line of natural botanical therapies with CBD to treat the conditions that affect us, personally – products that we, as Modern Midlifers, would buy ourselves. So, after much research and after working with physicians and researchers, we developed formulations we use every day, and that we’re proud of.
What is CBD?
CBD is short for cannabidiol, a compound found in cannabis plants that’s associated with numerous health and wellness benefits. Wisdom Essential products are formulated with CBD derived from select hemp plants cultivated in the USA. Most of our products use broad spectrum CBD, but our topicals are made with full spectrum CBD.
How does CBD work?
CBD interacts with something called the endocannabinoid system. Never heard of it? Turns out that it’s vitally important to your health. The endocannabinoid system plays an important role in maintaining your internal balance. Things like your mood, immune system, sleep cycle, metabolism and cardiovascular system are all affected by your endocannabinoid system. CBD can be used as a safe, all-natural way to promote a calm sense of well-being.
What is the endocannabinoid system?
Discovered in the 1990s, the endocannabinoid system consists of cell receptors that regulate your body chemistry and maintain balance. The endocannabinoid system affects the immune system, the central nervous system (including the brain), organs, connective tissue, and glands. It supports energy & balance, immune function, memory, metabolism, sleep, and the autonomic nervous system.
How will CBD make me feel?
In general, the effects of CBD are real, yet subtle. It can make some people feel pleasantly calm and refreshed, like they’ve just gotten a massage or taken a yoga class. Each of our Wisdom Essentials is formulated to achieve specific benefits. For example, our DREAM formula was created to help alleviate anxiety and promote better sleep. Our FOCUS formula uses ingredients that have been shown to increase attention and mental sharpness and the CALM formulation reduces anxiety.
Will CBD get me high?
The short answer is NO.
People are commonly confused about where CBD comes from and more importantly, what it is. CBD stands for cannabidiol. It’s one of more than 100 compounds from the cannabis plant and is most often derived from hemp. Despite the negative connotation or “high” imagery that comes to mind when you hear cannabis, CBD does not alter your behavior in any way. The intoxicating feeling from smoking or ingesting Cannabis is due to another compound in the plant called tetrahydrocannabinol or THC.
What’s the difference between CBD and THC?
Simply put, both are cannabinoids found in the Cannabis plant. THC gets you high, CBD doesn’t. THC has intoxicating effects that alter your behavior. Hemp-derived CBD is the non-intoxicating form of cannabis.
How is Wisdom Essentials CBD produced?
We use no harsh chemicals and our products are non-GMO, sustainably grown with non-GMO farming practices, and manufactured in the USA according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) throughout the supply chain.
Our oils are decarboxylated for full activation of hemp. Our CBD ingredient is extracted from select domestically cultivated hemp through a CO2 extraction and purification technology that meets our rigorous standards for taste, color, quality, CBD content, and purity.
Are your products lab tested?
Absolutely! We don’t simply say we sell the best CBD, we prove it to you with comprehensive third-party testing conducted by independent ISO-certified labs at multiple times during the manufacturing process. We follow strict potency guidelines and invest in manufacturing processes that yield the purest CBD while always meeting legal requirements. We post our testing results on our website, so you know what our products contain – without any guessing.
First we test the dried hemp plant. Then, before it’s infused into our products, we test every batch of hemp extract for CBD content and other cannabinoids, pesticides, contaminants, and residual solvents. After that we test the bulk product after infusion.
Finally, at the finished product stage, we test for cannabinoid and terpene profile (amount in milligrams) as well as for pesticides, microbials, mycotoxins, heavy metals and residual solvents.
What do you test for in your products?
We test for purity, potency, and pollutants. That means we test for the potency of the cannabinoids to ensure maximum effectiveness, and we also test for the not-so-good stuff like heavy metals and pesticides.
Why does 3rd party testing matter?
Testing results help you verify the quality and ingredients you’re purchasing. More specifically, because of the legal requirements, you want to be able to personally check for the level of THC and the purity before you purchase or ingest any CBD. We take pride in our high-quality processes and ensure that our ingredients are the best and meet all state legal guidelines. What’s the proper dosing?
Everybody is different, and there’s no standard dose that works for everyone. Because efficacy is individualized, a higher dose doesn’t always equate to a better result. We recommend starting low and going slow. Dedicate time to listen to your body and assess how the active compounds of the plant affect you, in small and big ways. Instead of focusing on what you feel, you might want to think about what you don’t feel (goodbye stress and worry!)
What is a tincture? How do I take a tincture?
A tincture is a liquid extract that is taken by mouth. To ingest our tinctures: Shake well. Place one full dropper under the tongue, wait 60 to 90 seconds, then swallow. Repeat as needed.
How should I store my CBD?
For best shelf life, store in a cool dark place and don’t leave in direct sunlight or near heat. This ensures that our formula doesn’t lose any potency.
