Using CBD to Age Well: Takeaways from Aliza Sherman and Dr. Junella Chin

WisdomEssentials-Cannabanoids

Fact: The conversation around cannabidiol, or CBD, is heating up. The sheer volume of what is being written, researched, and reported can be overwhelming.

As science and public perception of natural medicines increase, it is important to keep up with the ever-changing research and findings in the cannabis space. For some, the thought of using CBD can be intimidating: Is it safe? Will it get me high? What will my family think?

All of these are valid questions.

I recently read Cannabis & CBD For Health and Wellness by Aliza Sherman and Dr. Junella Chin. The book offers a safe, comprehensive, and easy-to-use guide on how to use cannabis and CBD to ease a whole host of symptoms and health issues.

From the founder of a global cannabis wellness network and an osteopathic physician, Sherman and Chin, offer some real help in the discussion and resolution of these questions.

Here is what I learned – and what you can take away – from their guide:

1. CBD is therapeutic.

From the title of their book, they address the therapeutic effects of CBD to help relieve some of the health issues we are dealing with as Modern Midlifers: stress, anxiety, pain, inflammation, and a myriad of other conditions.

2. Be willing to have open conversations about CBD.

The authors advise being open and honest with your family.  Let them you are curious. Talk to health care professionals about the benefits of CBD. Do the research to find high-quality products. And find the right dosing and format to benefit from CBD as it fits into your lifestyle.

3. The old stigmas are just that: old stigmas.

The tone and vocabulary of the book reflect a thoughtful, researched, and nuanced discussion of how CBD can help with real issues that people face. Plant-based therapies can be an alternative against potential drowsiness-inducing, addictive, and toxic treatments that come from over-the-counter (OTC) medications and prescriptions.

Beyond the conversation, they offer additional insight into explaining terpenes and the value that these aromatic compounds may have in helping alleviate a number of conditions ranging from inflammation, asthma, pain, immunity suppression, nausea, sleeplessness, anxiety, gastrointestinal conditions, and more.

From the perspective of Modern Midlifers, perhaps the most heartening part of the book was a section called Aging Well. The authors directly address the issue we care about most: how CBD can help us live well while we live longer.

Using CBD to Age Well

The book, Cannabis & CBD For Health and Wellness, cites a study that older adults – let’s call them Modern Midlifers, shall we? – are increasingly living with chronic conditions and depression. They write that people embarking on their Second Act “may seek out the therapeutic benefits of cannabis and CBD to reduce their use of prescription medications that may have unwanted side effects”.

Importantly, they go on to make the important point that the promises of CBD are being discussed and considered by sources in the mainstream media, such as CNN, Newsweek and other recognizable news sources.

However, there’s a catch: quality matters.

In an article Sanjay Gupta wrote in 2019, he said; “We are in an age of wisdom, but also an age of foolishness”. What he meant was that people have to look a bit harder to find quality products that are produced properly, labeled truthfully, and marketed ethically.

This is why we have worked long and hard here at Wisdom Essentials to develop the best products and work to continually make them better. We test and publish the results for all our CBD products, make ourselves available to our customers, and truly commit to acting on honest feedback.

This is personal to us.

Why? Because your health and wellness are paramount. It’s a personal decision to incorporate CBD into your health and wellness regime. In fact, we encourage you to take your time to do the research for yourself and your family.

Maybe, like Aliza Sherman and Dr. Chin, you’ll overcome any fear and doubt about CBD.
